Colorful Baby's First birthday cake

This cake was made for the first birthday of a baby boy. There was no specific theme to the party. I tried to incorporate all the kinds of toys that a baby is introduced from birth to first year. I added some balloons and gifts to give the celebration feel.

The cake is frosted with buttercream and all the decorations are made of chocolate.

Anitha, this looks so good! I ran across your blog from Rosie Bakes A Piece Of Cake....your cakes are super! I like decorating cakes too, I have a question. How do you get the edges of your cake to be like the edges on the cake for Elmo? I have trouble getting them perfect like that.

Thanks Priscilla for your comment.

The cakes are iced in buttercream, the smooth look given with the spatula. It takes a while to learn the technique. But sure, you will get there with practice :-)

Thanks for stopping by!!
Hope that helps!!
